Beth grew up in the mountains of Idaho, spending her childhood skiing, backpacking, and rafting. Her love of the outdoors brought her to the University of Utah, where the quality of education matched the access to the outdoors. She spent her time in Utah developing her hobbies of backcountry skiing, mountain biking, and climbing. Trading the Wasatch Mountains for the Eastern Sierra, Beth moved to Mammoth Lakes, California, where she now resides.
As her love of the outdoors took her to more remote places, she saw the need to increase her skill set. Beth began her formal education in wilderness medicine in 2018 after completing her Wilderness First Responder course. Her love for emergency medicine led her to pursue and obtain her National Registry EMT-B license in 2019. Since then, she has utilized her medical training in a professional setting as a Ski Patroller at Mammoth Mountain.
Her interest in wilderness medicine and her desire to teach others drove her to become an educator. Beth aims to empower her students with the confidence and knowledge to go into challenging and austere environments. Beth is a Wilderness Medical Associates International instructor and an instructor for the Health and Safety Institute.
When not teaching courses or working as a ski patroller, Beth loves to backcountry ski, hike, fish, hunt, climb, and just about anything else that gets her into the outdoors. She loves bringing along her dog, Bodie, who is trained as a search and rescue avalanche dog at Mammoth Mountain.
