After having spent seven years teaching in the classroom, BLE owner, Brigitte Denton (Steinmetz), decided to take a break from the traditional classroom to pursue other interests in education. Her passion for the outdoors and experiential and inquiry based learning led her to Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Classic freelance tutoring work and after school science enrichment programs morphed into a custom home school program for ski racers. Her experience swimming and playing water polo at the high school and collegiate levels provided first hand knowledge of what it is like to juggle the numerous demands of the student-athlete. With the help of her coaches and teachers, she acquired the skills needed to be successful in both arenas.
Brigitte’s vision has always been to use what her coaches and teachers taught her to “pay-it-forward” by passing on the life skills needed to be successful in today’s world as well as inspire others to be passionate about the outdoors. Through word of mouth her work gained popularity and in fall 2013, Beyond Limits Education, Inc. was officially born.
Since BLE’s inception, Brigitte has continued with her vision of “paying-it-forward” and has used her passion for EMS and education to develop BLE’s current educational programs.

Our Staff
BLE instructors excel at breaking down large topics into simple and easy to understand concepts. They practice what they teach. Many have years of experience working in both the medical field as well as in the outdoor education/guiding industry. Learners can expect information delivered in a number of ways meeting a variety of learning preferences. Hands-on practice through life-like drills is a core component to all BLE’s first aid, CPR, EMS, and wilderness medicine training.
