Mammoth & June Mountain Ski Patrol

Since 2016, we’ve partnered with Mammoth and June Mountain Ski Patrols to deliver one of our most dynamic and comprehensive training programs. With approximately 75 patrollers rotating in and out of service and holding a range of certifications (EMR, WFR, WEMT, OEC, EMT, Paramedic), our program is designed to be flexible, inclusive, and above all — effective.

Annual Fall Training (4–5 Days)

  • Covers BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR, patient assessment, and medical/trauma topics.
  • Uses job-specific equipment in realistic simulations.
  • EMTs and Paramedics earn California-approved CEUs, which apply to National Registry recertification.
  • Over a two-year cycle, training hours meet or exceed requirements for EMR, EMT, and BLS certification renewal.
  • Training is employer-sponsored, and patrollers are paid to attend.

New Hire Training

  • EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics earn CEUs through rookie training.
  • Patrollers with WFR or OEC certifications transition to an EMR certification.
  • Training is paid and covered by Mammoth Resorts.

Ongoing Training & Guest Seminars

  • On-hill field scenarios are held throughout the season.
  • Medical professionals (many volunteering their time) lead seminars.
  • CEUs are awarded to EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics, and hours are logged for EMRs.
  • Participation may be paid or optional, depending on the training.

Skills & Knowledge Assessments

  • Skills are verified annually and during new hire training.
  • Online written assessments are conducted through our LMS.
  • Instructors assess according to each patroller’s certification level.
  • We work individually with any patroller who needs additional support to meet competency.

Certification Management

  • EMR and BLS certifications are renewed when requirements are met within a two-year cycle.
  • EMT skill verification (CA State & NREMT) is provided on a rolling basis.
  • BLE directly logs CEUs for affiliated patrollers in the NREMT system under “Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol.”

Wilderness Medicine Recertification (WFR/WEMS)

  • Offered every two years for patrollers who wish to maintain their certification.
  • Cost is a fraction of a standard course and completed on their own time.

What Patrollers Say They Value Most:

  • Training together as a team with shared expectations.
  • Ongoing sessions that keep skills sharp.
  • Practicing with the same gear they use on the hill.
  • Huge financial relief — certifications, CEUs, and paid training are now covered by Mammoth Resorts.
  • Affordable and accessible recertification options for WFR/WEMS, even if not employer-sponsored.
